Payne Stewart routed it
along the ridge.

The Design
Built with Cal Olson.
Finished by the terrain.
Payne Stewart and architect Cal Olson opened Coyote Hills in 1996 with a simple idea — let the ridge do the work. The routing climbs, turns and drops with the land instead of cutting through it, which is why a 6,510-yard par 70 still carries a 134 slope.
It is a public course that asks private-club questions, and it does not care what you shoot as long as you think your way around.
Water shapes the ending. Nine, fourteen and eighteen each put a decision in front of you that you can see from the tee box — no hidden trouble, no tricks, just the club you are honest enough to pull.
Come late in the day. From the seventh tee on a clear evening the whole basin opens up and you can see straight across to downtown Los Angeles - regulars will tell you the Hollywood sign is in there too.
Three holes worth the drive
Full scorecard
Hole 9
Water down the right the whole way in. The green shelves back into the hillside and everything left feeds away from you.

Hole 14
Downhill over water, with an afternoon wind that will talk you out of the right club at least once.

Hole 18
All carry and all nerve, uphill to a green sitting under the terrace. Somebody is always watching from lunch.
Rates
Green fees move with the tee sheet.
Pricing changes by day and by time, so the live tee sheet is the only honest number. Everything below is fixed and does not move.

Weddings & Private Events
The ceremony ends
as the sun does.
The Vista Falls Room takes anything from twenty to three hundred, the ceremony site frames you against the waterfall, and the basin sits behind every photograph. Orange County couples have been booking this hillside for the same reason since 1996.

The course has a really challenging layout with loads of elevation change and well placed bunkers. The staff onsite and on the phone were very helpful and nice and will definitely recommend and go again.

The greens are always in great shape and have consistent speeds. I like that there are a fair amount of elevation changes from hole to hole. The one hole on the front that is pictured has amazing views and if it’s clear you can even see the Hollywood sign.
Miles Smith · Golfer
The venue itself is absolutely stunning, especially the ceremony site, which truly is the highlight of the property. On the day of, everything was set up exactly as we requested, the staff was wonderful, and the food was delicious.
